Before investing, read the current scheme documents and check that they match the exact scheme and plan you are considering. A summary or a past return chart cannot replace the official terms.
Scheme Information Document (SID)
The SID contains scheme-specific information, including the investment objective, investment strategy, asset allocation, risks, benchmark, expenses, loads and other terms. Use the latest version and review applicable addenda. Pay attention to what the scheme may hold and how it can respond to changing markets.
Statement of Additional Information (SAI)
The SAI provides information about the mutual fund and matters common across its schemes. It complements the SID. Check the current fund-wide details rather than assuming an older copy remains current.
Key Information Memorandum (KIM)
The KIM presents key scheme information in a shorter format. It is useful for orientation but does not replace the full SID and SAI. If a summary is unclear or differs from another document, check the operative scheme documents and ask the AMC for clarification.
Factsheet and Riskometer
A factsheet provides dated information about the fund’s schemes, holdings and other characteristics. Note its reporting date. The Riskometer communicates the scheme’s assessed risk level. Neither document forecasts returns or makes a scheme suitable for an individual investor.
A short review checklist
- Confirm the AMC, scheme name, plan and option.
- Read the objective, asset allocation, risks and liquidity terms.
- Review the current Riskometer and portfolio information.
- Compare expense information, exit load and applicable commission disclosures.
- Check the documents’ dates and addenda.
- Consider whether the investment horizon and possible loss fit your circumstances.
Keep a copy of the documents and your transaction confirmation. If you do not understand a term, pause and ask the AMC or a qualified professional for an explanation before authorizing a transaction.
Scheme information can change. Verify details with the relevant AMC and current filings on the date you invest.
